HempHouse is a construction studio dedicated to creating hempcrete walls/cubes that aim to meet the needs of homeowners and the aspirations of architects for traceable, sustainable, and bio-sourced construction.
Environmental properties
- A carbon sink crop that captures 15T of CO2/ha, reoxygenating, cleaning and regenerating soils.
- Zero waste, irrigation and chemicals, hemp is genetically resistant to disease.
- Relocation of the sourcing and production system to respect the working conditions and remuneration of French producers.
Technical
- A wall that improves indoor air quality due to its excellent water vapor permeability.
- A unique acoustic and thermal insulator, maintaining stable temperatures in both winter and summer.
- A formulation naturally resistant to bacterial and mold attacks.
The developed construction technique, known as "ready to formwork," allows for the hemp concrete to be left exposed, showcasing the natural characteristics of the plant on interior walls. The HempCubes are high-performance walls with exceptional thermal and acoustic properties, and a distinct aesthetic that reveals the materiality of the hemp shives while echoing the layered aesthetics of rammed earth construction.
