Tale of the Swan and Seven Other Extraordinary Stories
May 2022
This multimedia workpiece has been produced in collaboration with Markos Mazarakis-Ainian, creator of the soundtrack, and has been shooted by the director Mila Kiss. As explained by the artist, Kiss was “zooming in and out on the bodies and the scenery. She brushes across the image, as one swipes, with a neurotic finger, the overflow of images and information generated by smartphones.”
Tale of the Swan is a mannerist reinterpretation of the omnipresent staging of the self in our society. The work on one's own image, shaped by the frenetic use of social networks, now cuts across all circles.
Lucile and Markos, under Kiss’s camera, are turning into porcelain dolls, both disturbing and intriguing, clad in costumes bordering on the grotesque, embellished with ceramic accessories that further enhance the artificiality of the two protagonists.
An ode to the world of dreams and chimeras, Tale of the Swan and Seven Other Extraordinary Stories is full of surrealism, “reminiscent memories masked under fantasies of past lives.”
